As part of its ongoing commitment to the continued development of future talent, Story Contracting have launched the Local Labour Market Aligned Curriculum (LLMAC) project, in conjunction with Beacon Hill Community School in Aspatria, Cumbria.
In the same week the U.K. celebrates ‘Tomorrow’s Engineers’, team Story have launched the LLMAC initiative for the second year running.
The project aims to inform and inspire school children about the career opportunities available in the Rail industry, and to prepare the school pupils for the type of day-to-day activities they may undertake.
Dave Robinson, Early Careers Coordinator at Story Contracting set the year 9 students an industry project, focused on the “Future of Rail” and how changes in technology, sustainability and environmental impacts will shape and influence communities of the future.
Dave said: “At Story Contracting we are committed to nurturing future talent and encouraging young students to consider a career within our business and the rail industry.
“I am delighted that Story Contracting has been able to support and inspire the students of Beacon Hill School. We have no doubt that these experiences will stand the pupils in good stead and hopefully we’ll see plenty of the pupils being inspired to become Tomorrow’s Engineers.”
Over the next 6 weeks students will gain experience in research, planning, design, marketing and before being invited to the Story Contracting Carlisle Headquarters to present their findings to the business leaders.
