Team Story celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2025

As part of Story’s ongoing commitment to the development of future talent, the company offers a range of opportunities for apprentices to join the team in a variety of different roles.

With over 100 colleagues in Early Careers roles throughout the business, this week gives us the opportunity to recognise the value that our apprentices add to our business.

Thank you to everyone who invests their time in our apprentice colleagues; teaching, mentoring and developing them.

“I took a non-traditional path into my career, starting as an apprentice rather than following the typical academic route. I firmly believe that if a degree had been my only option, I wouldn’t have discovered the opportunities available or the direction my career could take. Gaining industry experience alongside qualifications is especially crucial in this field.”Andy Joy, CEO

We caught up with a few of our apprentice colleagues:

“I have had lots of opportunities to develop skills and understanding in different areas of the business and I feel that it has helped me to gain new and develop pre-existing transferrable skills which I think will be beneficial going forward.”
Stephanie Penrice, Apprentice Resource Planner

“I have gained valuable insights from both full-time university and a graduate apprenticeship. Applying my university knowledge on site and experiencing various disciplines of my degree is rewarding. Interacting with different departments, individuals, and overcoming new challenges is enriching.”
Robyn Longmuir, Trainee Engineer

“I joined Story on an apprenticeship because it is a great way to get a degree while earning money and not have any debts. I also think it was the best path to become a Civil Engineer which was my goal.”
Leo Graham, Trainee Engineer

“I would say my favourite part of being an apprentice is applying my learning and knowledge from university to a live project. Additionally, working with industry professionals who have years of experience, which I might not acquire solely on campus.”
Joe Hollis, Graduate Apprentice Engineer
