Project Manager/Assistant Project Manager – Geotech

As part of continued growth and specifically within our Geotech Division, we now have a new opportunity for an experience Project Manager/Assistant Project Manager based from our Blantyre office to become a vital member of our team.
As a Project Manager /Assistant Project Manager within Story Geotech, you will be responsible for providing an effective level headed approach to project deliver covering both commercial and technical quality outputs as well as day to day delivery of tasks. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Plan and manage projects and business operations within your scope of responsibility.
- Develop and maintain existing and new business in conjunction with the departmental Senior Management Team.
- Ensure Geotech project team integrates with the Pre-Construction team and clients engineers at key stages through development, ensuring efficient buildable solutions are developed.
- Manage risks and opportunities collaboratively with whole project team.
- Prepare Health & Safety documentation prior to and during the site works phase, as well as assisting with the managing the Health & Safety of operatives and promoting a safe working environment.
- Day to day responsibility for planning, supervision and programming of GI and Geotechnical projects at locations throughout the United Kingdom.
- Lead by example to embed high HSQE standards in project teams.
- Generate accurate Cost and Value Reconciliation (CVR) monthly process for all projects.
- Maximise commercial performance of projects to achieve and exceed business plan.
- Ensure high standards of HSQE documentation are produced in timely manner and signed off appropriately.
- Promote Story behaviours to create a safety-first culture following the ‘Do it right’ ethos.
- Manage the quality control process by working closely with site engineers to ensure live and accurate records are maintained.
- Actively compile and manage the project handback documentation throughout delivery to ensure handback is achieved upon completion in line with agreed timescales.
- Ensure engineering compliance and strive for engineering excellence.
- Contribute to key meetings such as prestart, start up and internal and Client progress reviews.
- Understand client drivers to meet and exceed their expectations to achieve repeat business.
- Maintain high levels of client satisfaction. Record formal feedback through client surveys.
As the right candidate for this role you will have:
- Qualified to degree level in a geotechnical discipline plus five – ten years relevant experience
- Full UK Driving License
- CSCS Manager level
- CDM regs 2015 Training
- Computer literate and competent in use of MS Office
- Excellent awareness of GI techniques, procedures, BS (EN) standards and codes of practice
- Awareness and ability to implement Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
- Awareness of ICE, NCE, NR contracts and the effective administration of them
- Good understanding of Geotechnical and Geo Environmental laboratory testing
- Computer literate and competent in use of MS Office to create spreadsheets and documents for effective reporting, communication and record keeping
- Excellent awareness of data presentation
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Excellent attention to detail
- Mobility, flexibility and commitment
- Ability to implement Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
- Working knowledge of rail industry and infrastructure desired but not essential
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills
- SMSTS 5 Day Site Safety certified
