What we do

Manufacturing & Industrial Services

Our projects have included the construction and maintenance of factories and storage facilities. Our small works team specialise in working in live environments whilst avoiding disruption to the manufacturing process and delivering results for clients such as McVities, Iggesund, Pirelli and Nestlé.

Local / Public Authority Works

We are an approved framework contractor for Cumbria County Council and have a wealth of experience in successfully delivering projects for local authorities. Our works include bridge construction and maintenance, slope stabilisation, highway improvements and building projects.

We undertake a variety of civil engineering and building projects across our operating area. Our works include retail parks, car showrooms, conference and testing facilities and office spaces.

Housing Groundworks & Infrastructure

We create vital infrastructure for the housing industry, counting Story Homes, Riverside and Taylor Wimpey amongst our clients. Our works include the construction of roads, sewers, surface water drainage, house foundations and plotworks.

A595 Torpenhow Junction Improvements

Works were carried on the A595 Torpenhow/Bothel Junction in order to reduce travel times, improve reliability and protect and enhance the natural environment.

East Stand Refurbishment Works

Works were carried out to refurbish and fit out internal areas of the East Stand at Carlisle United’s Brunton Park stadium, which had been largely unused since the 1990s.

Smardale Gill Viaduct Masonry Repairs

Following the successful re-waterproofing of the Grade II listed structure in 2023, Story were contracted to carry out masonry repairs to the arches and piers of the viaduct.

Gooseholme Footbridge – David Harrison – CCC

The whole thing went flawlessly and was a credit to the planning and preparation that went into it by all the teams involved, and under such scrutiny by the large crowd and media attention. Please pass on my thanks to the Story site team for the professionalism and teamwork that ensured the aforementioned success.
